Ettinger is proud to introduce its new Laptop Case, the first piece from our latest Bosco collection. Available in two timeless hues, Black and Havana, these practical yet sophisticated designs are crafted from our newest leather, a finely printed cowhide chosen for its durability and suitability for everyday essentials.
To celebrate the launch, we sat down with our CEO, Robert Ettinger, to discuss this new addition and the inspiration behind the collection.
What made now the right moment for Ettinger to introduce a laptop case?
"The past few years have been very busy for Ettinger, with our 90th anniversary and the launch of several new products last year. A laptop case had been in our plans for some time, but we were never completely satisfied with how it was developing.
About two years ago, our marketing team carried out a survey among some of our key clients, and a laptop case came up as one of the most requested items. That encouraged us to look at the design again, and I’m pleased to say we are now in a position to introduce it with confidence."
Can you tell us about the Bosco collection and the new leather we're introducing?
“Our new laptop cases are the first pieces in what we are calling the Bosco collection. We haven’t introduced a new collection for some years, so it's a particularly exciting moment for Ettinger.
The Bosco leather is a finely printed hide, available in two classic colours, Black and Havana. It has a pleasing character to it, whilst offering the durability required for everyday use.”
What were the key considerations when designing this long-awaited piece?
"When we started working on this piece, we knew from the start we wanted it to look timeless and sophisticated, which are two keywords in our design process. We wanted it to be a practical and easy piece to use, whilst looking effortlessly elegant, and I think we have achieved that with these new laptop cases.”
How do you balance traditional craftsmanship with the practical needs of modern devices?
“I think it is important to move with the times, whilst remaining true to what you do. We have never been a company driven by trends, but we do pay attention to how people live and what they need. It is then a matter of interpreting that in our own way.”
What makes this piece distinctly Ettinger?
"As I mentioned earlier, at Ettinger we have always valued timelessness and a certain sense of elegance. Beyond the aesthetic, however, what truly defines an Ettinger piece is its quality, the choice of leather, and the craftsmanship behind it. Those are the elements that give each piece its character."
Can we expect to see more products designed for technology in the future?
“We are always open to new ideas, but any new product has to feel right for Ettinger and for our customers. As for what may follow, I am afraid I cannot say too much at this stage.”
